REMINDER: TSA Championship Meet
Today is the final day to register for the TSA Championship Meet. We have to submit all entries to TSA by 8p today so we have moved your deadline for registration to 6p TONIGHT. NO LATE ENTRIES!
What is the TSA Championship Meet?
The Kitts Creek Killer Whales team swims in the Tarheel Swimming Association (TSA). Each year, the TSA holds a “championship” meet at the end of the season. This meet is open to any swimmer on any TSA team, like the Killer Whales. This year, the meet will take place at the Triangle Aquatic Center (TAC) at 275 Convention Drive in Cary on July 21st. This all-day meet has event times based on the age of the swimmers. These times can be found on our Calendar and Meets webpage. There are additional fees associated with participating in the TSA Championship Meet (described below).
Is attendance required for my Killer Whale swimmer?
No. This meet does not count towards our team’s record. It is simply an opportunity for your swimmer to compete against almost 1400 local swimmers from 53 teams summer swim teams across the TSA.
Who should participate?
Anyone who wants to! Your swimmer should consider participating in the TSA Championship Meet if they had a blast this season and want one last competitive hurrah in the pool with some of their teammates.
How does it work?
This meet is very similar to our Killer Whales meets except it is held at TAC and run by TSA. The TSA rules apply to all events with the exception that 6 & under will swim the full 25-yard length of the pool (not just 15 yards like during the season). Swimmers may swim in a maximum of three (3) individual events and two (2) relays (1 Free & 1 Medley), except for 6 & under, who are limited to a maximum of two (2) individual events and two (2) relays.
How do I register if my swimmer wants to participate?
1.Navigate to our Calendar and Meets webpage and click on the event specific to your swimmer’s age.
2.Select Edit to change your swimmer’s attendance.
3.Change the dropdown to “Attending this meet” and select the individual event(s) in which your swimmer wants to participate. Make sure you click “Save”!
What about relays?
If your swimmer is available and wants to participate in a relay, indicate your selection in the dropdown. The coaches will assign your swimmer to an age-appropriate relay if there are an adequate number of swimmers registered. If you have a preferred relay team and all members are attending the TSA Championship Meet, please indicate this team preference in the “Notes for Coach” section.
Are there costs?
Yes. The TSA charges a $10 swimmer fee, a $6 per individual event fee, and a $10 per relay event fee (split between the 4 swimmers - $2.50 each). As an example, if your swimmer is signed up for 3 individual events and 2 relays, the cost is $33. Swimmer fee $10 + 3x $6 (individual event) + 2x $2.50. Entry fees are non-refundable.
How do I pay?
After registration is complete, the Killer Whales Board will contact you for payment. Fees must be paid by credit card only, including processing fees, by Tuesday, July 16.
Do I need to volunteer?
Like all meets, the TSA Championship Meet requires volunteers. You will be contacted after registration for volunteer needs.
